With competitive bidding in place, the cost of items are drastically reduced giving Medicare the idea that they have been over paying companies for years.
Since competitive bidding was put into place over 100,000 people have lost their jobs.
93% of local providers are not offered competitive bid contract. This in turn causes companies to serve patients from out of state.
Two pieces of legislation are in the works; H.R 284 and S.148. With this legislation, companies will be forced to prove license in the market that they are bidding in. This will help eliminate out of state bidding.
There are multiple auditing companies within the industry. These companies are commission based which incentivizes the number of audits produced.
Face-to-face requirements require that a physician sees a patient 6 months prior to writing an equipment order.
